About me
How would you describe yourself and what you make?
I would describe myself as an eclectic designer/maker. I work in three or four mediums mainly; knitting, sewing, hand embroidery and peg-loom weaving. Most of my designs tend to be one-off's as I often use pre-loved items and recycled materials which cannot be repeated. However I do have repeatable items such as my best selling, Harris Tweed Birds and flower brooches.

What materials do you use?
My favourite material is by far, wool. However the most important things for me when choosing materials for my work, are: first, they must be natural. So I use mainly wool, cotton, wood and clay. Occasionally I will use silk and other natural materials, as a design demands. Secondly, they should be either Fairtrade, organic, un-dyed or dyed using plants and other natural sources.
How would you describe your style?
That's a tricky one to define, as I myself, draw on an eclectic mix of styles. But if I had to describe it, I would probably use words such as homespun, folk art, country and rustic with a bit of cosy cottage thrown in.
What, or who inspires you?
I draw inspiration from much of what is around me here in the Highlands. I am very fortunate to live in such a beautiful place, surrounded by mountains and lochs, never too far from the sea and with a variety of flora and fauna on my doorstep.

The person who has inspired me most on my creative journey has probably been Kaffe Fassett. But there are many others too numerous to mention.
